Grizzly Mountain Policies

MISSION STATEMENT

Here at Grizzly Mountain Cane Corso, we strongly believe in the preservation and improvement of the Corso breed. We are not professional breeders- we get our income elsewhere and do not have to breed our dogs. With this in mind, all of our litters will be carefully planned out to produce a specific kind of offspring- all dogs have strengths and weaknesses, and it is our intention through thorough research and careful breeding practices to create a better dog.

We do not get involved in the ‘breeder bashing’ found on the web boards. It is our opinion that a good dog is where you find it, and things such as country of origin, pedigree, and kennel name are all highly secondary to the health, disposition, and appearance of the dog. With that said, there are a lot of breeders out there breeding ethically and breeding very quality dogs. We are just getting started and hope to someday have the success that some kennels enjoy today.

POLICIES

These policies are designed with the customer, our kennel, and above all the dogs in mind. Please feel free to contact us with any questions.

Health Gaurantee

All puppies we sell are gauranteed, whether they are show/breed quality or pet quality. We offer a comprehensive 24 month genetic health/hips gaurantee.

We also do not require you to return the dog or show proof of euthanasia to utilize the gaurantee. BUYER BEWARE there are many breeders who boast about their gaurantees that will require you to do this, as a deterrent to actually having to fulfill them. We strongly disagree with this practice! Our policy is to request proof of spay/neuter. Please contact us for further details on our gaurantee.

Price, payment and deposit

A deposit of 400.00 is required to reserve one of our pups. Our prices will vary per litter, depending on the stud used, and the quality desired. They will generally fall betweed 1,500.00 and 2,500.00 USD. We believe in offering only top quality pups, and with that said, would like to remind all prospective buyers that a puppy, like many other important, long term purchases, is both a emotional and financial investment. Please consider that the often used quote that 'you get what you pay for' applies with the purchase of a family companion as well. We are proud of the fact that we strive to produce some of the absolute best Cane Corso available.

We only accept two forms of payment for deposits- cash and wire transfer. We believe that this is the absolute safest method for you, the customer. After we have recieved your deposit, it will be placed in the order of selection (ei first pick, second pick, etc) in the order that it was recieved.

If for some reason you are unable to get the puppy at that time, your deposit will be transferred to the next litter. If the sex/quality you desired was not produced, your deposit will be transferred to the next litter. If you undergo some undue hardship in regards to you being able to purchase the pup after you have paid the deposit, it will be handled on a case by case basis. We do not gaurantee color. We will try our best to help with our customers preferences, however it should be noted that this should always be secondary to the overall quality and temperment of the pup in making a selection.

After we recieve the deposit, you may pay by the following methods: personal check, money order, cashiers' check, cash, or wire transfer. Please note that after the pup is 6 weeks old, we can no longer accept personal checks, due to the time required at our bank for the check to clear. Also, the pup will not be shipped, delivered, or picked up until the balance is paid in full.

In the event that you cannot keep your dog for any reason, you are REQUIRED to notify us so that we may assist you in finding a suitable home.

We promote responsible ownership! Unless you are experienced training large, dominant breeds, we ask that you enroll in puppy kindergarten as well as follow-up obedience. Socialization is a 'must' not an option. We will ask all buyers to do thier part to fight BSL and maintain a positive breed image by making sure that your dog is socialized, trained, and under control.

As an incentive, we will offer a reimbursement of 30.00 for a passing temperment test, (TT) and 50.00 for a passing canine good citizen. (CGC) (Other incentives available- please inquire)

We also offer a 10% discount for military, FD, and PD personell. Thanks!

Lifetime breeder support. We are always available to talk, and help with your new family member, or just 'talk dog'

In the event that you are convicted, in a court of law, of animal abuse, creulty or neglect, you shall forfeit all rights of ownership and the dog shall be returned to us.

We honestly care! feel free to contact us with any questions.

PUPPY CONTRACT

This contract is between_________________________, hereafter referred to as ‘buyer’ and Grizzly Mountain Cane Corso, hereafter referred to as ‘seller’

Buyer has agreed to purchase a puppy from the ________________________ litter, born on ________________________. Buyer has placed a deposit of ____________________

On pup from said litter. Puppy will be a male/female (circle) color__________, pick number 1 2 3 4 5 (circle) *Puppy Will be [show/breed] quality or [pet] quality. (circle)

*Please note that all dogs sold within the state of Montana are sold as ‘pet’ quality only, with no breeding rights. The only exception to this policy are dogs that we decide to keep partial ownership in. (co-own) inquire for availability. There is also a discount for qualified Montana state residents wishing to purchase a puppy- this is because of the fact that we want to be close to our dogs new homes so that we can see how they develop, as well as increase knowledge of the breed within the state.

Dogs that are sold as show/breed quality will be sold without breeding rights. Breeding rights will be granted when owner shows proof of the following 3 things:

1.) Passing hip scores.

2.) A written statement of their plans as a breeder, including how they intend to preserve/ improve the breed, what kind of other lines they plan to use, and why, why they want to breed Cane Corsos, and what type of facility they have. (kennel, home, etc.)

3.) Proof of the quality of the dog. This can be proved to us in 2 ways. The first is in conformation or working titles. Either a conformation championship, or statements from qualified judges as to the quality and correctness of the dog. Working titles including (but not limited to) Obedience, Tracking, Protection, CGC (canine good citizen), Weight Pull, Herding Instinct, …) The second accepted proof is a ‘photo essay’ showing the quality of the dog. It must be proven, beyond a reasonable doubt, that the dog is correct in structure and sound of mind. We understand that not everyone is into the show/ working scene, yet still appreciates and recognizes the qualities of their dog as a companion. In this case, we will ask for a temperament reference from either a veterinarian or a professional dog trainer/handler to go along with the pictures.

If a pup that is sold as show/breed quality develops a disqualifying fault, it will be replaced upon proof of spay/ neuter. If it is mutually determined between the owner and breeder that a dog sold as show/breed quality is not of breeding caliber, it will be replaced upon proof of spay/neuter. This is only applicable if the dog has never been bred.

Puppy will have it’s tail docked, dewclaws removed, and ears cropped. (unless specifically requested otherwise) Puppy will also have received it’s first shots and been wormed.

Puppy is guaranteed to be healthy upon delivery or pick-up. Buyer has 24 hours to take puppy to their vet if there is any problem, and seller must be contacted within 48 hours for guarantee to be valid. (We do, however, recommend taking your new pup to meet your vet and to get a check up regardless.) If puppy is found to be fatally ill within 24 hours of delivery/pickup, puppy will be replaced with a pup from the next litter of the same sex/ quality.

All dogs sold are guaranteed against Crippling Hip Displaysia for the period of two years. Dogs sold as show/breeding quality are guaranteed to have passing (OFA fair or Pen-hip 50%+) or better hip scores. Dogs sold as pet quality are guaranteed to be free of joint problems that would impair them from leading a full and healthy life.

If a dog is found to be displastic, seller reserves the right to ask for a qualified second opinion. Seller must be notified within 7 days of the failing x-ray.

If a dog is found to be dysplastic and meets criteria listed above, a replacement puppy will be provided from the next available litter, of the same sex/ quality, upon proof of spay/ neuter.

If a dog is found to have a genetically inherited health problem within 24 months of age, that is of sufficient severity to require mandatory, permanent medication, or significantly effect the ability of the dog to lead a full and healthy life, a replacement of the same sex/quality will be provided upon proof of spay/ neuter.

Grizzly Mountain Cane Corso reserves the right to have first option of return if buyer is unable to keep the dog. Buyer is also required to notify seller if they must give the dog up for any reason, so that seller may assist in finding an appropriate home for the dog.

If buyer is convicted, in a court of law, of animal abuse or neglect while dog is in their ownership, said dog will be returned to seller with no refund or compensation.

Buyer will send pictures of their new dog at the following ages to seller for the purpose of breeding practice improvement. If buyer wishes, they may contact seller for a self-addressed, postage paid envelope. (6 months, 1 year, 18 months)

Seller acknowledges that nature is not always predictable and that a puppy of their desired sex/ quality may not be available. If this is the case, their deposit will be applied to the next litter. Grizzly Mountain Cane Corso does not guarantee color- we will try our best to help with your preference, however, we believe that when matching puppies to their new owners, sex/ quality, and disposition are the most important factors.

In the event of any legal dispute, Montana state law applies.
